It's Friday. We leave either Sunday or Monday. I don't want to go. Good vacations suck, because no matter how long they are, they're never long enough!
We're back at the beach this afternoon. I worked this morning, which in and of itself is a bitter pill to swallow. Charlie is playing in the icy Atlantic and I am soaking up more sun. We started cleaning and packing today. I'm doing laundry tonight so I am footloose and fancy free the rest of the weekend.
Manny, Charlie & I went to Jungle Island yesterday and Charlie had a blast! We saw a 2000 pound killer croc - "Crocasaurus" I think he's called. We saw gibbons, lizards, giant tortoises and a sausage tree. Oh, and a cheeky monkey that made me laugh inappropriately and think of my friend Sara and her brilliant oldest son. I was impressed at Manny's ability to identify the various primates. He's a true Nature Boy! Who knew?
Tomorrow is Dad's birthday. 71. We're doing something fun for dinner but otherwise taking it easy. I am mentally preparing myself for the return to Michigan and the stark, gray, cold reality that awaits. I'm also planning a trip back to this paradise known as Pompano Beach. April sounds good. June (for CC's b'day) sounds better. And then for Thanksgiving, maybe. We'll see. Right now it's just wishful thinking and daydreams.
So we got home and I was cleaning up the kitchen. Charlie walked into the room jabbering about something random, then said "Mama lookit me!" I turned to find him standing in my "emergency hair." I broke my ass laughing at this kid. If Manny is reading this, I'm sure he's not as amused as I am. Where does this kid come up with the jokes!?? I told him he looks like Velma from Scooby Doo.

So yeah - we're preparing to go home. All good things must come to an end. Big shout out to Amy and Mark, who refreshed the condo while we were away. I can't wait to see it. It'll be like a show on A&E or something! It totally gives me something to look forward to when I think about going home. Grass Cloth Green and a faux painted wall? Yeah. That rocks!
On tap? Haircuts, a pedicure, a family picture and finding a way to end this vacation with a bang. Monday morning will be here in a blink and a shiver!
Big Love,
C.
